Lelothando Bokuva has returned to lead our facilitation team of Game Masters and is joined this year by Rustum Soekur.

Meet our new team members!

Solange Rosa is an independent consultant and is working with the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. She has a Doctoral degree in Law from the University of Stellenbosch. She worked for the Western Cape government for 10 years as the head of the Policy and Strategy Unit, responsible for policy analysis, research, policy and strategy development and planning. She was responsible for the Youth Development Strategy, the Early Childhood Development Strategy, the 5-year Provincial Strategic Plans, amongst other provincial plans, policies and strategies. She has expertise in constitutional law, human rights, public policy, strategy development, management of complex projects and teams, and programme design in socio-economic development. She is passionate about education, youth and technology.

Ashley Newell is a seasoned Community Development Professional, with 8 years experience delivering successful and sustainable projects in complex, socially charged contexts. Having completed her undergraduate in Psychology and Sociology, she has a particular passion for youth development, education, and connecting under resourced communities to new technologies. Ashley is pursuing her Masters in Inclusive Innovation at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.

Lelo Bokuva is passionate about youth development and has been a facilitator in a number of youth after school programmes in Hout Bay over the past five years. He first explored coding through a course offered by UpForAll and the Hout Bay Partnership in 2015 and was selected as one of the most committed learners to continue his programming training with UpForAll in Langa. His combined skill set in basic programming and youth facilitation made him an excellent candidate to introduce Learning Innovation Design Lab into Hout Bay’s High Schools in 2016. Lelo is currently pursuing furthering his studies in Business Management whilst continuing to support our learners to discover Game Design and Coding!

Rustum Soekur is a storyteller and creative writer with a certificate in digital media. He has also studied Game Design and Animation for two years and explores bringing these skills together in creative projects. Rustum was born in the pre-console era and experienced the radical development of online media, gaming and information technology as he grew up.  He has always been comfortable around information technology and feels strongly that ICT should not be a privilege limited to few, as it offers opportunities that transcend class and spatial divides.
